Agricultural workers often need to perform tasks at height on silos, grain bins, and windmills, operate around heavy machinery such as tractors, combines, and cherry-pickers, and navigate wet or uneven ground. Without proper training and fall protection equipment, the risk of serious injury from falls is high. Protect employees when working at height on railcars, trucks, conveyance equipment, ladders and storage bins.

Confined Space

Between limited access and narrow working conditions, confined spaces present unique challenges.

When entering a storage bin, boot pit, distributor, or bag house, fall protection and a means of rescue are necessary. When descending inside a tall grain silo, agricultural workers rely on active fall protection systems as well as confined space retrieval equipment. Confined spaces require not only the gear to arrest a fall such as a full body harness and lanyard or SRL, but also rescue equipment to retrieve a fallen worker. These may include: anchor points, davits, retrieval SRLs or mechanical man-rated winch systems. If a fall does occur, the right fall protection and rescue equipment mitigates the risk by preventing workers from hitting the ground and providing the means to retrieve them in a timely manner. Rescue training is also critical in confined space settings.
