Tank Anchors Product Sheet
Product sheet for Tritech tank anchors: clamp-on anchors for above-ground storage tank flanges, plus a rail-and-trolley system for large flanges.
What’s inside
- Where tank anchors are used: maintenance, inspection and monitoring on tank roofs
- Clamp-to-flange mounting with no drilling or welding on the tank
- Flange sizes covered, starting at 6 in.
- Rail-and-trolley anchor system for large-diameter flanges
- Structural analysis of the tank before an anchor is specified
- Load testing as part of certification for use
Routine tank work puts people at an unprotected edge
Maintenance, inspection and monitoring all require someone on top of an above-ground storage tank, often with no edge protection and nothing to tie off to. This two-page sheet is for tank owners, terminal and plant operators, and safety managers who need an anchor point on an existing tank without altering the shell or roof.
The anchor clamps to the tank; nothing is drilled or welded
Tritech tank anchors are designed to clamp to the center flange found on most tanks. That keeps installation quick and avoids hot work or penetrations on a vessel where welding may not be acceptable. The sheet covers:
- Clamp-on anchors for tank flanges from 6 in. upward
- A rail-and-trolley anchor for large-diameter flanges, where the trolley travels around the rail so the worker stays in fall restraint on a positioning rope lanyard
- All-weather construction for year-round use
- Continuous protection through the task, not only at the anchor point
The tank is checked before the anchor is specified
An anchor is only as good as the structure it attaches to. Tritech engineers can structurally analyze each application to confirm the tank can carry the loads the anchor will impose, and every system is load tested as part of its certification for use. Tritech has engineered, supplied, installed and certified fall protection systems across North America since 1993, and can start with a site evaluation of the tank.

Questions about this product sheet
Do Tritech tank anchors require drilling or welding on the tank?
No. The anchors are designed to clamp to the center flange of most above-ground storage tanks. Because nothing is drilled into or welded onto the tank, installation is quick and avoids hot work on the vessel. Tritech engineers can first analyze the tank structurally to confirm it can support the loads the anchor will apply.
What if the tank has a large-diameter flange?
For large flanges, Tritech offers a rail-and-trolley anchor system. The rail mounts around the flange and the trolley travels along it as the worker moves across the tank roof. Because the connection point follows the worker, they stay in fall restraint on a positioning rope lanyard wherever they are working on the roof.
How are tank anchor systems verified before use?
Each tank anchor system is load tested as part of its certification for use. Before installation, Tritech engineers can structurally analyze the specific application to confirm the tank can carry the required loads. The anchors are built for all-weather use and are intended to give continuous protection during maintenance, inspection and monitoring tasks.
Are Tritech tank anchors OSHA compliant?
The product sheet states that Tritech tank anchors meet OSHA and ANSI standards and that each system is designed to stringent engineering standards and load tested as part of certification. The sheet does not name the specific OSHA or ANSI sections, so ask Tritech for the certification documents that apply to your tank and task.
